Leftists, please stop
Over the last 48 hours, I have seen several of my fellow leftists attacking people over personal issues. Like harassing Biden over having a rescued dog and attacking Idena Menzel over her child crying, saying, “kids might not be in cages any longer”. If this is the future of our movement, I’m a little worried about what will come of it. Please do not start off the next 4 years by becoming what the right has been for the last 4.
When Joe Biden became the 46th President on Saturday morning, I was in all honestly, quite happy. Do I think Joe is going to fundamentally change anything? Of course, I don’t. Joe is and has always been a left of center politician. We may get a public option, marijuana legalization, and student loan forgiveness. That’s my highest hopes for his presidency. It’s not really on brand of him to be an FDR style president like we need at this moment. However, that does not stop the fact that so many people are already trying to score online gotchas. Where you are basically just being a troll to be mean. This will get the Progressive movement nowhere. Let’s make the next 4 years hard on him, but not with mean online insults, but rather by holding his feet to the fire on the policy. That is how we will win and truly build the grassroots movement of progressive policies in this country! Let’s all take a breath and enjoy the moment. Donald Trump only has 72 days left in the office. Once he is gone, we can start the real work of changing this country for the better.
